Haryana Dominates National Games 2022

The Golf Federation of Haryana is delighted to announce that Haryana has emerged as a dominant force in golf at the 36th National Games in Gujarat. The event took place at the Kensville Golf and Country Club in Ahmedabad from October 6-9, where teams competed in both individual and group competitions over the course of four days.

In the women’s category, amateur golfer Lavanya Jadon (78, 74, 74, 78) and top female professional Vani Kapoor (75, 74, 75, 71) displayed exceptional skills and secured the team silver medal with a combined score of 599, just nine shots behind the gold medalists from Karnataka. Punjab claimed the bronze medal with a score of 601. Vani Kapoor’s impressive performance in the final round also earned her the individual bronze medal after a tiebreaker with her teammate Gaurika Bishnoi (73, 74, 77, 71). The gold medal was awarded to Avani Prashanth from Karnataka (288), while Amandeep Kaur from Punjab secured the silver medal (292).

In the men’s category, Abhinav Lohan (68, 66, 72, 71), a prominent figure on the Professional Golf Tour of India, led the charge for Haryana. Together with top amateur Tushar Pannu (75, 80, 75, 76), the team narrowly missed out on the bronze medal by a single shot. Haryana finished with a four-day team total of 583, falling short to Delhi (582). The gold and silver medals were claimed by Chandigarh (571) and Karnataka (581), respectively.

Abhinav Lohan’s impressive score of 277 also earned him the individual silver medal, second only to Karandeep Kochhar from Chandigarh (267). Another Haryana athlete, young professional Sunhit Bishnoi, secured the bronze medal with a four-day score of 281 (73, 69, 69, 70).
