Diksha Dagar Makes Waves at ISPS HANDA Invitational
In a remarkable display of talent, India’s Diksha Dagar carded a remarkable 5-under 67 to secure a commendable T-6 finish at the prestigious ISPS Handa World Invitational Golf Tournament. The event, boasting a USD 1.5 million prize fund, is co-sanctioned by LET, LPGA, and the DP World Tour.
After three rounds, Diksha found herself in the T-11 spot, but her determined performance propelled her into a final score of 5-under for the week. This achievement marks her fifth Top-10 finish of the season, an impressive feat that includes a victory. Throughout the tournament, Diksha exhibited her prowess with rounds of 71, 74, 72, and the remarkable final round of 67.
The final round proved to be a highlight for Diksha as she secured eight birdies on the first, fourth, and sixth holes. Her remarkable performance continued with a standout sequence of three consecutive birdies from the ninth to the 11th holes, followed by another birdie on the 13th and a closing birdie on the 18th. Notably, Diksha’s mastery was evident as she birdied all four Par-5s on the final day.
Diksha’s outstanding form is underscored by her recent track record. Between May and June, she achieved an impressive four Top-10 finishes. In subsequent tournaments, she maintained her strong standing with three additional finishes within the Top-26, including a career-best T-21 at the prestigious AIG Women’s Open.
In the current Race to Costa Del Sol rankings, Diksha has climbed to the fifth position, positioning her as a formidable contender. Notably, she is closing the gap on the four players ahead of her, including her fellow Indian golfer Aditi Ashok, who holds the third spot. Diksha’s consistent presence in the Top-10 of the LET Order of Merit holds significant implications for her future endeavors. By maintaining this position, she secures a coveted place in the final stage of the LPGA Qualifying School, a testament to her exceptional journey and dedication to the sport.
