India is once again in the spotlight as it hosts one of the most prestigious women’s golf events in the country – the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2023. Celebrating its 15th edition, this event is a proud affiliate of the Ladies European Tour, and it’s set to take place at the renowned DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram from October 19th to October 22nd, 2023.
Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Gurugram, the DLF Golf and Country Club boasts two world-class golf courses – the Arnold Palmer Course and the Gary Player Course. However, this year’s action will unfold on the challenging Gary Player Course, known for its lightning-fast greens and strategically scattered water bodies that add a daunting twist to the competition.
The event will adhere to a stroke play format with a cut enforced after two days, making it a test of precision, skill, and endurance for the participating golfers. A total of 120 women golfers from 25 different nationalities will be vying for the coveted title, making it a truly international affair.
Remarkably, 33 talented young women from India are part of the roster, with a significant number of them hailing from Haryana, a region that has emerged as a hub for women’s golf talent. In fact, Haryana can proudly lay claim to some of the world’s top women golfers, and 14 of them will be showcasing their skills in this highly anticipated event. Notably, among them is Diksha Dagar, who is currently ranked in the top 5 of the LET order of merit! She’s also the highest-ranked Asian Golfer on the Ladies European Tour!
The Golf Federation of Haryana is all set to support its homegrown talents and wishes every woman golfer from Haryana the very best of luck. The federation encourages fans to come and show their support for these star players, which include the likes of Diksha Dagar, Vani Kapoor, Neha Tripathi, Gaurika Bishnoi, Tvesa Malik, Astha Madan, Nishtha Madan, Rhea Jha, Riya Yadav, Agrima Manral, Ridhima Dilawari, Shweta Mansingh, Hitashee Bakshi, and Kriti Chowhan.
